Temporary Suspension of Shipments to the United States

Dear Valued Customers,

We regret to inform you that we have temporarily suspended shipments to the United States due to recent changes in U.S. customs regulations and ongoing uncertainties with Canada Post and U.S. Customs Service procedures. We understand this may be inconvenient, and we're committed to resuming shipments as soon as possible. Below, we explain why this pause is necessary and what it means for you.

Why Are We Pausing Shipments?

On July 30, 2025, the U.S. government issued Executive Order 14324, which eliminates the de minimis exemption for low-value shipments (valued at $800 or less) starting August 29, 2025. This exemption previously allowed simplified customs processing for items like our collectible stamps. While stamps for collectors (classified under HTS 9704.00.0000) are typically not subject to duties or tariffs, the new rules introduce complex customs clearance requirements that remain unclear.

Uncertainty on Both Sides

  • Canada Post: As of now, Canada Post has not issued clear guidance on how it will comply with the new U.S. requirements for collecting and remitting customs data or ensuring shipments meet U.S. Customs Service standards. Without specific instructions, we cannot guarantee smooth processing of your orders.
  • U.S. Customs Service: The U.S. has introduced new rules requiring carriers like Canada Post to provide detailed data, such as 10-digit HTS codes, and potentially register for international carrier bonds. However, critical details about how these rules apply to duty-free items like collectible stamps are still undefined, with technical guidance only partially released on August 15, 2025. This leaves too little time to adapt before the August 29 deadline.

What This Means for Your Orders

Although our stamps are generally exempt from duties, the lack of clear procedures for customs clearance could lead to delays, returns, or unexpected costs at the U.S. border. To avoid these issues and ensure a seamless experience for you, we've chosen to pause U.S.-bound shipments until we receive definitive information from Canada Post and the U.S. Customs Service.

What's Next?

We're closely monitoring updates from Canada Post, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), and U.S. authorities. The UPU is working with the U.S. to clarify requirements and develop solutions, but many international postal services, including those in Europe and Asia, have also paused U.S. shipments due to similar uncertainties. We expect clearer guidance soon and will resume shipping as soon as we can ensure reliable delivery.

How You Can Stay Updated

We'll notify all customers via email and update our website as soon as we can resume shipping to the U.S. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. For shipments within Canada or to other countries, our services remain unaffected.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We're committed to getting your orders to you as soon as these uncertainties are resolved.

Debbie & Roy
